Jaya Jasmine Kaur is a 19 year old British- Indian girl, who was brought up in Chelmsford, Essex. She is one of three sisters, who also follow the path of cultural arts.

She was raised a Sikh, however not devoutly as her and her family took influences from their British culture. Her grandparents arrived in England in the late 1960's, and have been based around Essex ever since. Her parents have always been supportive of her music and encouraged her abilities to play the piano and guitar from a very young age.

She began music at the age of 6 when she appeared in her primary school's choir. She then began singing with her sisters at home, as encouraged by her parents and friends. This led to Jaya learning the piano and the guitar to a high level, and went on to appear in school concerts and competitions where she excelled. It was clear from very early on that Jaya had immense talent.

It was exploring with instruments as well as her voice, Jaya discovered mixing her own music and DJ'ing alongside her own vocal career.

In her later teenage years, she began performing at open mics at local pubs, and writing her own songs and posting covers on her personal youtube channel. This resulted in a lot of attention from music moguls, who invited her to interviews concerning her singing career.

It was after many auditions and interviews with lots of record labels, that Universal Records knew that they needed Jaya on their team. After little persuasion from the label, Jaya agreed and signed with them.

From this moment on Jaya became a global name, she started immediately on her debut album, which later became a chart success. Her single 'Overdrive', became number 1 in the UK charts for 4 consecutive weeks. She has performed in every continent with a huge following of fans across the world. As a social media figurehead, Jaya has gone from strength to strength. Her tour starts in July of this year, and it is predicted to be a huge success with 15 of the shows already been sell outs.

So from the little Sikh girl who sang with her sisters in Essex, to a global star, Jaya is taking over the music industry, and we can't wait to see what she does next.
